After many years of declining oral health, and then finally a visit to Doctors Nancy Ward and Denny Byrne, they suggested that I consider Invisalign. I'm beyond middle age and have raised three children. I took pride in being certain that my children had the best, state of the art, dental care from infancy, on. All three wore braces. As for me, braces weren't the norm when and where I grew up, unless one had "Bucky Beaver" teeth.

As an adult I have continued to take care of my teeth, always with the background thought that I simply will never have nicely, aligned teeth, and that is just how it is. Then, I was told that I was in danger of eventually losing a tooth due to the crowding of my teeth. I was referred to Dr. Nancy Ward to receive Invisalign braces, because she "does it all the time". I had never heard of Invisalign, but once I looked into it I learned that it is really quite common. It was not difficult to develop the consistent routine required to allow my new "braces" to do their job. Actually, I felt like my mouth had never been healthier! As a bonus, having braces on at the same time as my teenage son was rather refreshing! Of course, mine were so invisible, I had to prove it to a Noble Peace Prize recipient during a cocktail party by letting him look inside my mouth!

Anyhow, the day did come when my teeth were nicely aligned, and now they are even white! I am at heart a very "smiley" person. I did not realize how insidiously I was starting to feel self-conscious about my smile until now, when I comfortably grin from ear to ear! As a bonus Dr. Ward has told me that my teeth will likely not break down as I had previously accepted as inevitable. It may seem pricey, but I feel like I'm worth it.
