New Patients See One of Our Doctors First
Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with safe, gentle, and state of the art dental care. We are also committed to creating strong collaborative relationships with our patients, where we can work together to make the best decisions for your oral health. What does this mean for you? It means that all of our new patients always see one of our doctors first. We want to get to know you, your goals for your dental health, and your expectations. Only then can we provide truly appropriate treatment.
Review Health and Dental History and Exam
Your first visit will also include:
- a review of your medical and dental health history,
- a comprehensive exam which may include models and photographs of your teeth,
- appropriate x-rays.
It is essential to collect the appropriate information in order for us to make the correct diagnosis of any potential dental or oral health problems.
Create Personalized Treatment Plan
Often, we receive requests from patients to have their teeth cleaned at this first visit. We strive to provide this for our patients when it is appropriate, but if gum disease is present it needs to be treated differently than a ‘regular cleaning’. Simply providing a regular check up cleaning would be a disservice to you!
After our initial visit, we ask our patients to return for a consultation where we discuss any significant findings and develop a plan to help you be as healthy as possible. Our eventual goal is routine maintenance (regular checkups). The American Dental Association recommends that you, and your child, visit the dentist at least every six months for regular checkups and routine cleanings. We would love to see you here every six months to make sure that your smile remains healthy for a lifetime.
